For New Farm Confectionery, the weeks leading to Easter are the busiest and most exciting time of the year. It’s in this time frame when owner, Jodie Neilson, has the pleasure of working with her chocolatiers to plan the new flavours and continued favourites that will be included for their Easter collection. Each year a new local Australian artist illustrates the New Farm Confectionery Easter box bands and the team take inspiration from these designs to incorporate into their handcrafted chocolates.
Originally inspired by her travels to France, Jodie began hand crafting confectionery in 2013, selling chocolates from a table top at local Brisbane markets. She wanted to inspire her own community here in Australia to have the same passion and reverence for food as the French people she met on her travels. The business has since grown into a bricks-and-mortar shop and kitchen in Newstead.
Each individual New Farm Confectionery Easter Egg is hand crafted, their chocolatiers shaping, painting, filling and moulding to perfection. This entire process can take up to one hour from start to finish, including adding all the decorative goodies and packaging into their elegant gift boxes.
